The Bookery Club
Reading books is my favourite thing to do in the whole wide world. But reading alone is not enough. I like to take our favourite books and poems and bring the ideas in them to life. We're not content just reading about going on a bear hunt, we grab a packed lunch and go on a bear hunt. We're not just going to sit there reading about Mr McGregor's parsley and cucumbers; we're going to go out and grow some of our own. And I'm certainly not going to sit there salivating over the Gingerbread Man, Gruffalo Crumble and Paddington's marmalade, I'm going to roll up my sleeves, get into the kitchen and make my own!

I believe that in order to become a lifelong passion, reading needs to be made fun and experiential. One of the main ways I love to do this is by by bringing books to life through cooking - hence the name "The Bookery Club". On this blog I'll be sharing some of our favourite books featuring food, together with the recipes we use to. But that's not all. We love all things literary so I'll be blogging about theatre shows we have been to, exhibitions we've visited, authors we have met and anything else to do with children's literature!
I am a home educating mum living in the amazing city of Sheffield with my hubby and two children; our daughter "Ketchup" is seven and son "Mustard" is four. I've always been a bibliophile, having studied English at university; one of my favourite parts of motherhood has been introducing them to the world of literature and rediscovering books and poems that I enjoyed when I was a child.
This idea for this blog has been floating around in my mind for almost as long as I have been a mother - some seven years now; however, I have been striving for a level of perfection which, it only recently dawned on me, is probably completely unrealistic for someone like myself. So I have decided enough is enough and that I will publish this blog in it's current imperfect state, with an aim to tweak it to "perfection" as time goes on. Please bear with me and check back for updates! In the meantime, happy reading!
